Emily O’Rourke is a PhD candidate in Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley, currently completing her dissertation on postwar modernism and the promise of meritocracy. She has taught courses in modern literature and media, cultural history, and social and political theory in the Departments of English, Rhetoric, Global Poverty and Practice, and Interdisciplinary Studies at UC Berkeley. Her research has been funded by a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship.

In Spring 2019, Emily will be a Thinking Matters Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University teaching design thinking.
